On long international flights I try and avoid the window seat like the plague, however unfortunately on my most recent trip from Sydney to L.A. there was nothing I could do.
Making the most of my situation, I pulled out my camera in case of any window seat views, and was pleasantly surprised by the birds eye view.
They say the best views of Sydney are from the top of the harbour bridge, though I disagree. You’ll find the best views over Sydney upon takeoff or landing, from the window seat of your plane.

I know this view! We were so excited to see things we actually recognized as we flew into Sydney! But that approach – it feels like you’re flying into the ocean.
It totally does – no matter how many times I complete the flight, I still wonder if we’re going to land in the water!!
Beautiful view of a beautiful place. I used to live in Sydney back in the day…20 years ago at Coogee Beach. Amazing memories.
Thanks Steven! Glad you enjoy the photo. Coogee Beach is an amazing place to have called home for so long – such a stunning part of the world.
I hope we brought back fond memories for you :)
Wow, that picture surely caught my eye on Facebook. Thank you for sharing those views.
Thanks Craig! I’m so glad you like the photo – one of my favorite window seat snaps we’ve taken :) I hope you have the chance to fly into/out of Sydney and see the same view!
Wow, what an amazing view! You certainly did make the most of your situation! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like the photo! It was a pretty amazing way to say goodbye to the city!
Oh I love flying into Sydney and siting alllll that. It’s nearly as exciting as driving into the Berra and spotting the tower. LOL!
Lol totally agree – I actually got really excited on spotting the tower when we drove into Canberra recently after 2 years in the US! Missed that view!
