There are only a few times in a girls life where it’s appropriate to wake voluntarily at 6am while on vacation! One of those appropriate moments is to watch the sunrise over Myrtle Beach!
Impressed beyond all belief with the Myrtle Beach experience, I’ve been dreaming of the sand and surf ever since. We only spent 24 hours, but could have easily spent 24 years! 60 miles of sand, sun and sparkling Atlantic Ocean was our playground, and the warm temperatures and abundance of sunshine kept us outside for the majority of our time there.
The atmosphere was addictive. Joggers were out before the sun even rose. Surfers were silhouetted far off into the distance. Couples of every age strolled hand in hand as the Atlantic Ocean lapped gently against their feet. Children raced to build the biggest sand castle before the waves came crashing in to obliterate their work.
Time almost stands still at the beach; we walked nearly 10 miles soaking up the atmosphere before realizing we had walked so far. Try forcing me to do that much exercise on any other day!
But just because you’re at the beach doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the pools as well! From whirlpools and lap pools to heated pools and winding lazy rivers, the beach resorts in Myrtle Beach offer some of the best water attractions in town. Hampton Inn and Suites offers all of the above…on the one property!
Our accommodation was the highlight of our time in Myrtle Beach; a home away from home, our fully equip room with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two balconies and two amazing ocean views, there was really not a lot of reason for us to leave the room! Life doesn’t get much better than rolling out of bed into a rocking chair overlooking the Atlantic Ocean as the sun rises.
Everything we could possibly imagine needing was included in our accommodation; complimentary internet access, complimentary parking, DVD players with each flat-screen TV, more cable channels than you can possibly imagine, popcorn along with the tea, coffee and sugar, and more power sockets than we knew what to do with – a refreshing change from the majority of hotels where you’ll normally see me climbing under the bed just to plug in my laptop!
The staff were so incredible; always smiling; always asked us how our day/night was going; and happily organized free parking for my guests when I had visitors! Since having moved to the US all of my new friends have been travel bloggers whom I have met/networked with online. Traveling through Myrtle beach gave me the opportunity to meet one of my good friends for the first time!
I genuinely cannot rave about this hotel enough. I lost count of how many swimming pools were on the property, but I counted at least 7…including a lazy river which I took full advantage of! Hammocks lined the grass nearby the pools where we relaxed while listening to waves crash into the beach just a few meters away. This was after having eaten one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had in a long time…also complimentary!!
Full hot complimentary breakfast for every guest meant that we are now experienced in making waffles and pancakes! Fresh fruit, yogurt, and all of your continental breakfast choices also obviously included. The breakfast area was almost like a banquet hall! The large, open area gave you multiple options for where to sit, and you could see the Ocean through the windowed doors. We chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful morning.
And everything was clean and looked brand new! So many beachfront hotels have that worn, faded, sand trodden look to both the hotel and the rooms, but not here! Everything about Hampton Inn & Suites was first class – everything was completely clean and we genuinely cannot fault a single thing.
The conclusion?? Head to Myrtle Beach for your next beach vacation, however learn from our mistake and spend more than 24 hours!!

I know people who have been to Myrtle Beach but I never have. I’m impressed with a 10-mile walk on the beach. Walking the beach is the best way to experience it. That hotel looks great. Maybe we’ll consider a trip to Myrtle Beach. We like to take our son to the beach once a year. Sometimes it’s Florida, but other times it’s places that are unique to us. And anywhere on the Atlantic is unique.
Really was a long stroll across the beach!! The hotel was amazing – I highly recommend the destination and area; I’m a beach snob being from Australia (and now Florida) but absolutely loved it – as you said, anywhere along the Atlantic is generally pretty spectacular!
