This summer we spent a week in Brittany; a beautiful western region of France known for its delicious crepes and cider, as well as the impressive Mont-Saint-Michel.

Though unlike typical tourists who choose to stay in hotels, we chose a 5-star campsite located in Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, a charming village of the northern part of Brittany, also called the french Emerald Coast.

In a place where breathtaking beaches meet wild nature and rich history, you can explore the stunning Cap Fréhel, the picturesque Dinard or the medieval town of Saint-Malo.

Visiting Brittany: Our 5-star Campsite Experience

Our Campsite Accommodation

We spent one week in the Château de Galinée 5-star campsite in Brittany. Located just 3 kilometers away from the sea, this campsite is the ideal place to stay for those who want to spend some relaxing days in the countryside, less than one hour away from the most beautiful attractions of Brittany.

We chose to stay in the Mobil-Home “Cottage for two, a perfect way to enjoy the campsite atmosphere with all the comfort you would find in a “regular” accommodation. This cute wooden cottage had everything we needed, from a comfortable bed to a full kitchen and bathroom equipment.

Plus, the campsite staff was particularly welcoming and helpful, giving us advice on the places to visit in Brittany and making sure we were enjoying our stay.

Things to Do From the Campsite

With the sea close by, we could easily go swimming in the clear blue water that this region is most famous for.

Trying out kitesurfing was a challenging but memorable experience, and with more time, we could have learnt to sail or to go diving. There are beautiful underwater caves close to Saint-Cast-le-Guildo.

Very close to the campsite, an equestrian center was offering horse rides along the sea, which allowed us to discover the seaside in an unusual and quite magical way.

But no need to go far away to have fun. The Château de Galinée offers many activities directly on the campsite: an outdoor pool complex, tennis courts, multi-sports grounds, mini golf, table-tennis, etc.

We spent hours in the spa area, relaxing after a long day of walking around.

Discovering Brittany

We were amazed by this region and the places we visited. Brittany may not be the most popular region of France when it comes to tourism, but it is full of hidden gems.

The most memorable for us was the Mont Saint Michel. This spectacular site seems to be floating on the sea. We visited the abbey, one of the most ancient french monuments (classified as a UNESCO world heritage site), and wandered around the streets of this fascinating medieval environment.

Visiting the walled city of Saint-Malo and its bay was also a unique experience. Apart from the wonderful beach, a must-see is the 14th-century Solidor Tower, where you can find the Museum of Cape-Horners.

For nature lovers, we recommend going to the Cap Fréhel. These cliffs (up to 70 meters high) above the sea are breathtaking. It is the perfect place for long walks in the fresh air.

Other towns of north Brittany are worth visiting such as Dinard, one of the most prestigious seaside resorts in France, or Dinan, another Middle Age walled city which is particularly pretty.
