Visiting the Tri-State area is an incredibly popular to spend a summer. Three states make up the region; New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut; and if visiting these areas during the end of summer, or throughout autumn, New York City is the most common destination people flock to.
New Jersey is a destination which also pulls big crowds, made famous by the popular MTV show “Jersey Shore”. With a shoreline which extends 127 miles in Jersey alone, there are an abundance of beaches to visit in the Tri-State area, but what about lakes?
Lakes offer a similar beach experience offering sand and water for play, but can offer a different variety of activities you won’t necessarily find at the beach.

Since summiting Mt Kilimanjaro back in 2010, I have been looking for inspiration for my next big trek.
Everest? It’s on the list – though everyone’s doing Everest these days. The Kokoda Trail? This trek won’t be for a while until we return to Australia. The Inca Trail perhaps? We experienced a heavy downpour of rain while in Peru so opted out and jumped on a train instead.
But then someone mentioned the Camino De Santiago. And I thought now that’s an inspiring trek! That someone was Megan Tasker from MeganTasker.com.

“I can’t get the time off work”;
“I have to wait until my kids are a little older”; and, the main reason:
“I just don’t have the money.”

My very first trip abroad was to Japan in 2003 with my year 9 language class; a high school cultural exchange which saw two chaperone teachers try and guide 20 teenage girls through Japan. Kudos to those teachers! While the highlight for many of us was our visit to Tokyo Disneyland, it was our homestay experience which ignited a spark which would later evolve into a...

For those of us who grew up with the spoils and comforts of the Western world, there is often little or no reason to relocate our entire lives to a place thousands of miles from home; especially if we have limited understanding of the local culture, cannot speak the language, and may have only visited for a few weeks or months prior to the move.
But there is something about traveling to a foreign land, learning local customs and behaviors, meeting amazing people and leaving with a greater understanding of yourself that only those who have been through the same experience will understand.
In my opinion, it is something everyone must do in their life. Although, if you’re reading this blog, chances are you know this already!
