Swimwear. We all need something to wear when we hit the pool or beach. But not everyone enjoys the experience of wearing one.
Whether we feel self-conscious, or we think that all our flaws are on show, or we just hate the experience of shopping for the right pieces – swimwear can really be divisive.
If you need to purchase new swimwear, you might be wondering how you can find the right bikini or one piece, the style choices are endless which can be a problem in itself!
The whole process can seem stressful and overwhelming, especially if you’re heading out on vacation or travelling this summer.
So, with this in mind, I’ve gathered some simple, straightforward tips to help you find the right swimsuit for you. Read on to find out more.
Looking for New Swimwear? These Tips Will Help
Think About What You Need it For
Ok, so the answer might be obvious – to go in the water of course!
But take a minute to think about where you’ll be wearing this swimsuit and what you might be doing in it.
For example, a high-leg cut-out monokini with diamante detailing might not be the right choice for a day at the water park with your kids. But, if you’re planning on hitting the beach for late-night cocktails at a party destination, then it could be ideal.
Matching the swimwear to the occasion could mean the difference between enjoying yourself or spending the whole time worrying about your modesty!
Think About Your Bust
Again, having the right support around your bust can make or break your swimsuit look and confidence.
If you’re a lady with a large bust, opt for bikinis or swimsuits with underwiring, wide straps or thicker chest bands to give you the support and coverage you need.
Styles such as high-neck bikini tops, or even zip-up one-pieces can give you more control and confidence over how much you have on show, as well as making you look fabulous!
Think About Colour, Patterns and Fabric
If you have your heart set on a particular style that’s great! But have you thought much about the colour or patterns that might flatter you?
Again, this can feel like a whole other issue to navigate. As far as swimwear goes, consider choosing bright colours or patterns for the areas that you want to accentuate and opting for darker block colours for the areas you may wish to mute.
If you want to make an area appear smaller – many women feel conscious of their stomach areas – consider shirred fabric.
Or if you want to add volume – like to your shoulders for example, then ruffles will certainly add some drama and fun to your swimsuit choice.
Don’t Forget Your Accessories
Swimwear and accessories aren’t always the first pairing that springs to mind, however, the right choice of accessories can elevate your look and complement your chosen style, giving you confidence and practicality in one.
Beach coverups are a great finishing touch – and you can play around with different designs, such as shirts, kaftans, full-body coverage suits, waist-only or top-half-only coverups or long-sleeve beach cardigans that will give you protection from the sun and effortless chic.
If you’re taking electronics to the beach, just make sure they have a waterproof casing and you keep them as clear as possible from the sand!
