4 Exciting Travel Destinations to Rediscover Adventure

Wales

One of the most often overlooked locations for an immersive trip in exciting nature is Wales.

Coastal farming communities in Wales offer astounding views and unique cultural experience unlike anything travelers are used to. There are plenty of cities to explore, but the countryside is particularly beautiful.

One highlight that locals and visitors enjoy is coasteering, which means climbing on and jumping off of cliffs into the whitewater below. Whitewater kayaking and surfing are also wonderful pastimes, which you can experience mostly year-round.

If that’s too much excitement, slow down in a farm town yurt and walk along the gorgeous coast. Perhaps you may even see one of the famous seals that tend to perch themselves on the jagged rocks along the beach.

Wales is a destination with so much to offer in terms of activities, history, railways and beaches. Every corner has something interesting to discover, from castle to coast.

New Zealand

There are some places that are so breathtakingly beautiful and full of rich history, that it’s genuinely puzzling as to why they are so often overlooked by world travelers. A common country that falls in this category is New Zealand.

Often overshadowed by its larger, sunnier Australian neighbor, New Zealand is a small island country with an abundance of wildlife, astonishing views, and inspiring culture. Other-worldly in its natural beauty,  you have dozens of breathtaking beaches, incredible glaciers and the most beautiful fiordlands.

For the nature enthusiast and outdoor adventurer this is a paradise destination, and Queenstown has become known as the adventure capital of the world (where bungee jumping was invented).

Rafting and jet boating are both can’t-miss experiences, and you can also enjoy spelunking, or caving in New Zealand’s majestic underground caves. You can even raft your way down to the inner parts of these astounding caves.

Many consider visiting New Zealand short-term, but moving to New Zealand is possible and actually quite popular as well. I mean, why leave a land of such enchanting beauty if you don’t have to!!

Adventures in the States

Matanuska Glacier, Alaska.

For someone born and living in the United States, it may not be your first choice to try to discover something new in your own country, but being in such a large country means that the possibility for adventure from coast to coast is huge!

Some of the most highly populated adventures include hiking parts of the famous Appalachian Trail along the eastern coast, skiing or snowboarding in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and swimming in the tropical waters off of Florida’s Gulf and Atlantic coasts.

Though the adventure in this one country truly is endless. You can zipline over Niagara Falls if you’re spending time in the north, take a road trip down California’s famous Pacific Coast, drive the iconic Route 66, or cruise alongside whales in Alaska.

The United States is a pretty solid choice if you’re traveling as a group or a family, as there is something to suit everyone’s sense of adventure. Above: Hiking Matanuska Glacier, Alaska.

Scotland

If there’s anywhere that lends itself to a few nights in a medieval castle, it’s the Scottish Highlands.

Scotland is one of those rare countries in the world with landscapes so diverse you could travel for months and still not have seen it all!

From the highlands in the north with dramatic moors, rolling hills, rugged coasts and dazzling lochs, to the Scottish borders alongside England which boast medieval castles and manor houses, there is no doubt that Scotland is one of the world’s most beautiful and historically fascinating countries.

There is a definite and very distinctive medieval and magical quality about Scotland, and there are attractions to appeal to travellers of all ages and interests. If you’re not sure where to start, why not take a bus tour of the highlands!

You can hike green mountains and meet the famously gentle beast, the highland cow. Take in the views of the famous lochs on the way between some of the best breweries and distilleries in the world. Don’t leave without trying some of that legendary Scottish whiskey.
