I’m often asked what makes a good travel shoe and my number one response is usually versatility.
While it would be nice to pack a dozen different pairs of shoes, this is totally impractical when traveling, and in trying to adhere to luggage size and weight restrictions the goal is pack just one or two pairs of lightweight shoes that you can use for a wide range of activities.
Most versatile shoes are lacking in one particular area though, and that’s in being waterproof. Which is important because, trust me, it rains in pretty much every country!
Enter Loom.
Loom Footwear has not only created a highly-versatile sneaker, they’ve gone a step further and made them waterproof. Stylish enough for city walking, they’re also great hiking shoes that can stand up to a number of elements.
Both lightweight and comfortable, they’re easy to pack and can worn all day without suffering from sore feet. All of this adds up to Loom waterproof sneakers being an ideal choice for travel footwear.

Loom Footwear: Reasons to Pack These Lightweight Waterproof Sneakers!
Travel Friendly Design Features
While being waterproof is a main reason to pack these fabulous sneakers, there are many other reasons that make these great shoes for travelling.
Firstly, they’re very lightweight, equal in weight to maybe a pair of flats or sandals. This makes them perfect to pack since they won’t add a lot of weight to your luggage.
Secondly, their antimicrobial properties and Merino wool interiors mean that they’re anti-odor and won’t stink up everything in your bag (which is not something most people think about when traveling, and realize too late!).
The shoes are flexible yet durable, offering up soles that absorb shock while also providing sturdy heels that help to support your ankles. The impact-resistant design allows them to be used for running or jogging in addition to normal everyday walking.
The Merino wool interior and moisture-wicking technology allows the shoes to be breathable and temperature-regulating, meaning less chance of sweaty feet.
Overall, these are a well designed pair of shoes that provide support and comfort for your feet. As a bonus, the company sources product materials that are cruelty-free and earth friendly.
Loom’s Waterproof Feature
One of the greatest benefits of Loom shoes is their waterproof design. There’s nothing worse than shoes that allow your feet to get wet, as excessive moisture in your shoes makes you more susceptible to blisters and can lead to smelly feet.
Loom’s 100% waterproof knit layer means you can step in puddles all day long and still retain dry feet. And let’s be honest – who doesn’t love jumping in puddles! (I seem to find them even when I’m not trying to!).
I wear them to the beach, and the waterproof nature of the shoes means you can also easily rinse dirt or sand from the without soaking them and needing to dry them out in the sun all day. You can actually see the water being repelled while lightly rinsing the shoes.
You can wear them in rain or light snow without fear of getting your feet and socks wet. Of course if you walk through water that is deeper than your ankles, water will enter your shoes from the top, but for most situations your feet will remain dry.
And if you do happen to get water inside your shoes by trudging through deeper waters, these shoes tend to dry very quickly unlike most other shoes.

Loom Sneakers for Hiking
One of the greatest attributes of these shoes is their versatility. While perfect for city walking, they are equally ideal for light hiking.
This means you may not have to pack a heavy pair of hiking boots if you are planning on visiting national parks or trails in search of wildlife and famous natural landmarks.
Being lightweight yet still durable, Loom shoes allow you to hike considerable distances without experiencing foot or leg fatigue. Their flexibility allows you to enjoy full range of motion in your feet and this means you can navigate different types of terrain easily.
They also don’t require nearly as much breaking-in time unlike traditional hiking boots (though do still put time aside to break them in as the backs are quite stiff for the first few days of wear).
For normal hiking on established well-groomed trails, these shoes are more than adequate. They just may not be the best suited for intense bush-walking among spiky plants, sharp rocks, or dangerous wildlife, so if you’re more of a Bear Grylls style of hiker, best to stick with more rugged hiking boots with reinforced toe caps and heels.
The flattish soles are surprisingly slip-resistant although they may not hold up to ice or wet rocks along shorelines. But for most situations, these shoes will provide an adequate level of stability even in wet conditions.
Ordering Details
I can highly recommend Loom Waterproof Sneakers as a fabulous, all-round travel shoe, however it’s really important to make sure you order the correct sizing, so here are some ordering details.
Loom shoes come in both black and white styles, ranging in sizes 6 to 13 for men and 5 to 11 for women. They don’t offer half sizes so you’ll need to round up to the next whole number size if you do take a half size shoe.
I’ve found that these sneakers tend to run about a half size smaller for both men and women, so would recommend you round up when ordering. For example, if you take a size 9.5 shoe, order a 10.
Pro tip: Even if you normally go for a size 9, I would still advise going with a 10 despite it being two sizes up as they may otherwise be a bit tight. The design is a bit narrow towards the toes, so if you have especially wide feet you may have difficulty finding a pair that fits comfortably both in terms of length and width.
Shipping comes with tracking and usually takes between 2-3 weeks. Loom Footwear’s limited return/exchange policy means you really need to be certain about sizing which can be an issue, so do keep this in mind.
Money-back refunds are not offered and exchanges are only offered if shoes have not been worn and are proven to be defective or damaged upon arrival.
Loom Footwear will exchange defective shoes within seven days of purchase so long as they are sent back in the same condition that you received them and in their original packaging with proof of purchase.
You will need to submit a request to exchange your defective shoes with support@loomfootwear.com, which will then instruct you on how and where to send your shoes back. Note you will only be able to exchange your shoes for the same pair as initially ordered.
