It’s hard to pin down exactly one reason Dubai is so incredible. It’s a city that prides itself on offering such a huge variety of experiences, sights, and sounds.
Dubai is one of the most opulent and expensive places in the world, much beloved by the wealthiest of celebrities and socialites – but its vastness and variety mean that even travelers on a budget can have an adventure.
If you still need convincing, here are just a few reasons why Dubai should be on your travel bucket list.
Why Dubai Should Be at the Top of Your Travel Bucket List
The Hotels are the Height of Luxury
Of every choice you make about where to go or what to do in Dubai, perhaps the most important choice is the hotel you stay at. There’s truly no better way to experience the city’s opulence than in the place you’ll rest your head each night.
Some of the most well-known are the Burj Al Arab and Shangri-La Hotel, which are the resorts of choice for the most jet-setting travelers who have the funds to staying at some of the wealthiest hotels in the world.
Though there are more budget-friendly options too, as well as places to stay depending on what you’re seeking. Nightlife? Historic neighborhoods? Family-friendly locales?
With so many choices, it begs the exciting question – where would you stay in Dubai?
Shopping is Taken to a Whole New Level
The Dubai Mall is one of the largest malls in the entire world, hosting over 1,200 stores and seeing millions of visitors each year. In addition to shops, the mall also has the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, a virtual reality park, a mall hotel, and other attractions.
For those looking for a more culturally unique shopping experience, there’s the breathtaking Gold Souk. A traditional Arab market, the Gold Souk primarily deals in some of the finest jewelry in the world crafted from gold and other precious materials.
While Dubai brings in cultural offerings from around the world, the Gold Souk is all about providing a traditional Arab experience.
It’s a Paradise for Food Lovers
From tiny (yet sumptuous) shawarma joints and mouth-wateringly delicious local diners to the best sushi outside of Japan, you’ll find anything you could ever dream of eating in Dubai.
There are fine-dining kitchens run by Michelin-starred chefs, like the contemporary Italian eatery Social by Heinz Beck and classic French restaurant STAY by Yanek Alléno.
There are also the numerous family-run establishments and food stands peppering each street, offering traditional Emirati cuisine that just can’t be matched by a restaurant with a dress code.
There’s also the much-loved Dubai Food Festival held in late February to early March, which is meant to showcase all the city has to offer. For every price range, for every palate, from every corner of the world, the Dubai Food Festival (and the city in general) has something for those who love food.
There’s Something For Every Traveler
While young lovers and romantic globetrotters will delight in the glittering nightlife of Dubai, you can rest assured knowing that there are more family-friendly pursuits for visitors with young children tagging along.
There are plenty of kid-friendly recreational activities, ranging from museums and art exhibits to theme parks and special events.
All traveler will love the gorgeous beaches, like the open Kite Beach (adjacent to the Burj Al Arab and tons of cafes) and The Beach at JBR (which has playgrounds, free yoga sessions, and various other daily activities on its sands).
Regardless of who’s with you, there’s truly something for everyone in Dubai. It’s a city built around luxury and offering the best of the world all in one place – and for that, every traveler should make Dubai a goal destination.
