Recently voted the best islands in the world by National Geographic, the Faroe Islands are an unbelievable chain of islands which lie halfway between Iceland and Norway, in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Inspiring scenery, untamed nature, and dramatic landscapes; the Faroes are unspoiled, unexplored and absolutely unbelievable. One of the most unspoilt destinations left on earth, every scene is spectacular, and every view takes your breath away.

WOW…they are all so Beautiful!!! Fantastic Pictures, all of them!
Thanks Pam!! 10 more coming tonight :D!
The pictures are breathtaking. I always knew there was something special up there. :-) What particular months would it be best to visit the place yo think? Thanks
The great thing about the Faroe Island is is that the weather and temperature is pretty constant all year round. And though summer is “tourist season” there really wasn’t any tourism at all while we were there – which is fantastic because we shy away from huge crowds!
We went in the middle of June and could hike and felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. Maybe look at May through September or somewhere in that kind of timeframe :)
Gorgeous photos. The Faroe Islands look stunning. Would so love to visit, especially to see those gorgeous puffins :)
Thanks Diane! The Faroes are absolutely amazing – when you’re standing out there you almost have to pinch yourself to make sure it’s not all fake!!
There are literally hundreds of thousands of puffins. It was incredibly hard for me to pick this photo to post out of the 3,000 odd that we took. Lol I’m not kidding or over exaggerating either! Easily the best place in the world to see and interact with puffins :)
exotic scenery of faroe islands really Amazing
It truly is!
So wonderfully off the beaten path AND gorgeous. You can’t go wrong with that combination!
You never can! What we loved about it was that the whole country (well it belongs to Denmark but it’s an autonomous country) was off the beaten path. Not a tourist really anywhere in sight!
I’ve been to Iceland but I’ve never thought about going to the Faroe Islands – these photos look stunning, especially that puffin one!!
We did both Iceland and the Faroes. Honestly it’s hard to pick a favorite out of the two, but the Faroes are definitely in fierce competition with Iceland!!
Megan, these islands look gorgeous and exactly the kind of place that I’d want to go to! Everything looks like it comes from some sort of storybook. Absolutely beautiful photos, you’ve actually got me wanting to go! <3
It really is just straight out of the pages of a fairytale!! Glad we could inspire wanderlust – it truly is such a magical place!! Hope you have the opportunity to travel here soon!
It is incredible how much the Faroes look like Iceland! I loved Iceland so will definitely put the Faroes on my list as well :)
Very similar! We did Iceland right before the Faroes and can’t decide which one we loved more! The Faroes were a lot more traditional though, and a lot less touristy than Iceland which we really loved :)
Hope you have the opportunity to get here!
Wow Megan! These are amazing photos! By the way, what’s the best time to visit Foroe Islands?
Thanks! It’s such a beautiful spot, it’ll literally turn anyone into a pro photographer lol you can’t take a bad photo here! We traveled during July, and I would say this is the best time to go. June and July are the summer months, otherwise you’re hitting winter and everything is covered in snow and the days are very short.
July is prob best if u want weather that is alright.. but its worth it all yr around.. :)
Thanks Svenn! Would be wonderful to head back in winter to compare the two … and maybe catch the Northern Lights :D
This is how I imagine Iceland to look, only it looks more green and lush! You’re right, these photos have definitely made me want to jump on a flight out there, like now!
Iceland was very similar to this, though the Faroes were more isolated and authentic if that makes sense. Iceland was naturally gorgeous, and we would LOVE to go back for more time there, but the Faroes were even more so, and the villages in the Faroes truly seemed as if they dated back to Vikings.
Iceland is a destination which is on the radar of many tourists already, the Faroes is not. So in this sense, the Faroes are more natural in the sense that they’re truly untouched by the outside world :)
I hope you manage to book that flight! You’ll LOVE it there!!
Looks beautuful and so green. Yes I definitely want to jump on a flight there now!
It’s one of the most vivid countries I’ve ever visited for it’s beautiful greens!! We had such a wonderful time, the nature is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend a visit! :)
Wow!!! its just mind blowing
Hope you have the chance to visit soon! It’s even more spectacular in person :D!
I think you have manipulated the colours a little bit too much. It is not *that green here. And the reds are – well – very red…
Great pictures snyway :)
Hi Anfinnur :) Thanks for stopping by our blog! I’ve increased the saturation on a couple of the photos, so indeed the greens and reds are a bit more vibrant in some.
Glad you like the photos!
